About this site

The Diffraction is a publication that aims to report on the live music industry to the benefit of attendees, bands, and venues alike. It’s a delicate ecosystem. We aim to cover the big and the small, with a clear understanding that there are real differences between a local DIY show, the Taylor Swift juggernaut, and the Phish/jam band experience. We will do our best to cover these meaningful differences.

Its proprietors are Keith O'Brien, a writer and consultant, and Brian Ries, a writer and consultant, who previously ran the popular Phish-related newsletter Jam Sandwich.

If you subscribe today, you'll get full access to the website as well as email newsletters about new content when it's available. Your subscription makes this site possible, and allows The Diffraction to thrive. Thank you!

Tiers

Our plan is to always offer a free tier of The Diffraction*. And at this very moment in time, everything is free. But eventually, there will be a paid tier, which promises many extras, bonuses, goodies, and prizes.
